As a part of the Castleford to Wakefield Greenway scheme a cycleway bridge is required to cross the existing railway. The crossing position is at the position of an existing bridge which has since been removed. Abutments remain but these are not to be utilised in the design, though the effect of their possible removal must be considered by the designer. The feasibility report has recommended a 35m span steel bridge on abutments independent and not reliant on the existing abutments.
