Equine Farrier Service

GMP are seeking to award a contract for the provision of a Equine Farrier Service. The Mounted Unit of GMP has an establishment of approximately 20 horses, stabled at the Hough End Centre in South Manchester. The unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the horses are required to work a variety of shifts. On average, the horses work undersaddle 2-4 hours a day, 6 days a week, mainly walking on roads. They are predominantly hunter types and stand between 16.2hh and 17.3hh. The diet of the horses is roughage based, consisting of haylage, alfalfa and a balancer.
