Currently, Hydrogen powered trains offer an attractive, lower carbon/zero carbon, alternative to the existing diesel trains. Any new hydrogen rolling stock seeking to be introduced will face the same challenge of proving that they are safe to enter service, and the process for demonstrating this capability has yet to be defined.
