In the 2015/16 UK Budget, the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) was assigned funds to acquire seismic and other geoscience data in under-explored areas of the UK Continental Shelf in order to improve regional evaluations and stimulate future exploration activity by improving the fundamental geological understanding of these areas. Two areas were selected for surveying, in collaboration with industry, and the seismic acquisition work has been completed, and data processing is continuing.
