The service is to undertake traffic counting within Great Britain on both major and minor roads, on behalf DfT. Counts take place on public roads only except in the case of a few major private roads (e.g. M6 Toll road, roads around airport boundaries). The Count Point locations are specified annually by the Department for Transport, and counting must take place on specified dates at the exact defined Count Point locations unless otherwise agreed by DfT.
