The sites vary in size, character and complexity and include public and private open space and land reserved for development. Since a number of the sites are used as, or are adjacent to, public open space the identification of health and safety risks is a priority. The sites comprise of grassland, woodland, hedgerows, scrub, waterbodies and areas of hardstanding associated with formal and informal footpaths and roads.
