The system is in regular use, it serves the immunology capability and needs of the research department on site at Porton. The system is over 10 years old and demand for its use has increased over the last two years with little end to this requirement in sight. Taking the age of the system into account, any down-time for servicing or repair has an impact on our work and it makes sense to upgrade to reduce the risk in the event of failure.
