South Yorkshire Supertram Ltd (SYSL) commenced operation in 1994 and SYPTE let a Concession to Stagecoach through SYSL to operate and maintain the Supertram system on its behalf in 1997. This Concession expires in 2024. As part of the Sheffield City Council (SCC) Streets Ahead PFI Amey as SCC's contractor has a contractual responsibility to replace all the traffic signals across the city.
