Bus operators are required to register local bus services with the Traffic Commissioner at least 56 days prior to the commencement of a new service or of a service change. At the same time that the operator applies to register the service, they are required to provide a copy of the registration to any local authority within which the service will operate. On receipt of the registration, Leicestershire County Council (LCC) input the details on to its route and timetable management system.
