When carrying an abnormal load, Hauliers are required to notify the police, highways, and bridge authorities regarding the movement of abnormal loads around the road network. The hauliers have historically notified the relevant parties using “Cascade’s Abhaulier system, “National Highway’s Esdal system” or via direct communication. These systems allow for the routes to be checked by the asset owner (or a delegated third party) to ensure the proposed route is suitable and safe to carry the abnormal load.
