SCC APC Provision of Local Assistance Domestic Goods

Surrey County Council (“the Council”) through the Local Assistance Scheme (LAS) provides emergency financial assistance to Surrey residents who are unable to meet the needs of them self or their dependants. The Scheme also provides or replaces essential household items if a resident cannot afford to do this. Decisions are made immediately during a phone conversation with the resident, providing immediate assistance for the emergency. All awards are made on a non-repayment basis, reducing the burden on the resident and avoiding costly debt recovery.
