The UCL Department of Physics and Astronomy requires a large Telescope, as fully described in Schedule 1 of this tender. The New Telescope will be the largest reflective telescope present at the Observatory and will be assembled in the Wilson Building. The large primary size (80cm) will provide a higher rate of light input than all the existing units. At the same time a dual Nasmyth focus will allow the installation of two separate instruments which will benefit from this telescope. The budget for this tender is 272K.
