WYFRS currently employs 1400 staff based at various sites across West Yorkshire. The bulk of these staff are operational firefighters with the remainder consisting of support staff. Looking after the health and safety of our staff is very important to us. Upon recruitment all staff need to undertake medicals. Some medicals are more detailed than others due to nature of roles, e.g. firefighters. Following recruitment all operational staff are required to undertake health screening every 3 years, with more frequent health surveillance in place for higher risk roles.
