The purpose of the project is to set out the requirements for a community based Tier 2 Ophthalmology Service for the localities of Greater Preston and Chorley and South Ribble CCG’s. The existing contract for the Tier 2 service is due for renewal and the opportunity has been used to review what is currently delivered and extend the service that is provided for patients. The key aim therefore, is to produce community based eye services to deliver care at the heart of the community, which means outside of the acute hospital setting for many patients.
