The existing choppers on IMAT and LET are essential to the running of the beamlines. Between the IMAT and LET beamlines, there are 8 chopper systems. The controllers of two of these choppers are rapidly becoming obsolete, and the controllers for the other six are out-of-date. This obsolescence increases the risk of the chopper systems failing, which results in loss of beamtime until the choppers can be restored.
