The extract kicker system has been designed entirely around the CX1925X thyratron. Thyratrons have a finite life and require replacement periodically to ensure operational reliability is maintained. The thyratron is a central component in the Extract Kickers and must be replaced with an identical model as the system is designed around the thyratron itself.
